Dr. S. Martínez-Subiela

University of Murcia, Spain

Dr. Martínez-Subiela is associate professor at Murcia University Veterinary School. She obtained a PhD degree in 2003 and during her studies she was awarded several scholarships for excellence: University of Murcia and National Excellence Awards for the best academic qualifications in Veterinary degree studies, University of Murcia Excellence Award for the best PhD thesis in Veterinary studies and The Veterinary Journal 2003 Junior scientist literary Prize. She is a member of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Clinical Analyses of the University of Murcia (Interlab-UMU) giving routine service to the teaching hospital, external practitioners and private companies related with companion and large animals. She has about 18 years of experience as a teacher in Clinical Propaedeutics and Veterinary Clinical Pathology, which includes lectures, practicals and seminars. She has participated in 12 projects about innovation in education and teaching and developed different types of interactive materials to use in teaching.

Dr. Roman Dąbrowski

University of Life Sciences, Lublin, Poland

Professor Roman Dąbrowski is the Head of Department and Clinic of Animal Reproduction, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland. He is a veterinary surgeon and his major duties include teaching, collaboration and research. Together with his research group Prof. Dąbrowski performs clinical and experimental research at the small animal clinic, working mainly with dogs and cats and smaller animals, but also with other animal species including cows and horses. Prof. Dąbrowski has about 20 years of experience as a teacher, which includes lectures, practicals, seminars and workshops.

Dr. Mª Dolores Ayala Florenciano

University of Murcia, Spain

Dr. Mª Dolores Ayala Florenciano is associate professor at the Department of Anatomy and Compared Pathological Anatomy, University of Murcia, Spain. She has about 16 years of teaching experience and has participated in more than 20 projects about innovation in education and teaching. Her main investigation lines are focused on the image techniques in veterinary and organ plastination, which led elaboration of numerous books, interactive programs and videos that are widely used by veterinary anatomy students from Spain and Latin American countries, such as Mexico and Colombia. In addition, this team carries out different organ preservation techniques, such as plastination. With these techniques they prepare human and veterinary anatomy material, which is used by students as well as by professionals of human and veterinary medicine.

Dr. Pedro Raposo de Almeida

University of Évora, Portugal

He is a researcher at the University of Évora, Portugal. His scientific activity was dedicated to the study of the biology and ecology of fish (diadromous, freshwater, estuarine and coastal species), aquatic biotelemetry (radio, acoustic and physiological), conservation and management, fish population dynamics and ecological monitoring. Participated in more than 30 scientific and applied projects, and coordinated several projects dedicated to the study of anadromous fish. Published more than 82 papers in SCI journals, 3 books, 11 chapters of books.

Dr. Raymond G. Macharia

Royal Veterinary College, London

Associate Professor of Neuromuscular Science at the Royal Veterinary College, London.

He is a graduate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Nairobi. He hold an  MSc. and PhD in vertebrate muscle growth and development. He also holds a postgraduate certificate in academic practice (PGCAP) and a MSc in Education. He has previously worked  at the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. and  the   University of Freiburg, Germany. He  lectures and conducts scientific and educational research at the Royal Veterinary College, London; and is  Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. He has contributed to both educational  and scientific publications in reputable journals.

Dr. Nichola Coombes

Veterinary Clinical Education, London

Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Education, London. Trainee Veterinary Nurse 1996 – 2002 and qualified as RVN in August 2002 with Distinction. She has joined the RVC in May 2003 as a Nurse Educator in the about to be set-up new CSC. PgCert Med Ed in 2009; and she is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since Feb 2010. She has a diploma in Veterinary Education since 2010. Master of Science Degree in Veterinary Education in June 2012 and FZSL in October 2012. She is liaising with student support regarding students with learning difficulties or medical issues and the best course of action to help. She has been an active member of NOVICE (National Online Veterinary Independant Clinical Education). She has several awards: winner of the James BeeTeaching Award 3 times; and latest in 2016-17, Student Award of 'Outstanding Practical Teacher'. Recently she has joint Book Editor "Veterinary Clinical Skills Manual" CABI (May 2018). She is a VetEd Science Committee member for 2019 conference. She is also a Peer reveiwer for JVME.

Dr. George Stilwell

Faculty of Veterinary of the University of Lisbon

George Stilwell is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary of the University of Lisbon. He is the leader of the group Welfare and production animals, of the CIISA (Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Animal Health). George Stilwell has a long expertise in teaching and research in the area of animal behaviour and welfare. He is author of numerous publications in peer review journals, books and book chapters, having participated in numerous research projects and expertise groups (ORCID: 0000-0003-3733-3223).

Dr. José Afonso Almeida

University of Évora, Portugal

Retired Professor of Zoo Department at University of Évora. For many years he was responsible for the  anatomy and physiology disciplines, and later devoted himself to the teaching of animal ethics. Current president of the organization responsible for animal welfare (ORBEA) of the University of Évora. He was also, for several years, vice-rector of the University of Évora. Research interests pursued in chronological terms: tannins and nutrition; effect of food on the digestive physiology of piglets; nutrition and feeding of the Alentejo pig; effect of legumes on cholesterol metabolism in pigs; adaptation of cattle.
